Fashion Fix: The Terrorists Sell Prada
Celebrity Hijinx is not a fan of designer knock-offs, a $250 billion dollar industry. I've never understood the appeal of buying a cheap, plastic purse with an obvious, big, fake Prada symbol off some stranger who doesn't speak English on the side of a dirty New York street. Can somebody fill me in on how is that glamorous? No, real designer purses do not "fall off trucks." And yes, when you're wearing a ripped up Tweedy Bird t-shirt and the metal on your Louis Vuitton purse is made of gold-colored plastic, it's obvious that you didn't spend $1500 on a real purse from a Louis Vuitton store. Sorry. As harsh as I sound kids, nobody with a fake bag looks classy OR like a celebrity. Got it?
CNN recently did an undercover investigation (hidden cameras and all) on the underground world of knockoffs and discovered that a large portion of that $250 billion I was talking about earlier sponsors criminal activity both here in the US and abroad (which makes sense because counterfeiting goods is illegal) and funds some terrorist activity. Who knew terrorists had such bad fashion sense?
So, the next time you're in Chinatown and are scoping out Chanel if you buy it you have my warning that: a. it's fake b. you'll look tacky c. you just got ripped off by a criminal.
