FASHION FIX: Pastels Wear Black Today

Neo-preppies raise their collars to half-mast. It's a day of.... crocodile tears. French clothing magnate Bernard Lacoste died Tuesday in a Paris hospital at age 74. He had been suffering from a "serious illness" for more than a year.

This must be an emerging trend in the fashion world as famed designer Oleg Cassini passed away just a few days ago. If I were Georgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld (who looks like he is two seconds from death), Yves Saint-Laurent, Valentino or any other designer who is old enough to be in a retirement villiage, I'd be sleeping with my eyes open. Apparently in the fashion world, death is the new black.

No, Yves Saint Laurent is still living. He had a few nervous breakdowns causing him to get fired from Dior and he struggled with mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction but is still at the daily grind. He retired from designing his haute couture line (Tom Ford did the pret-a-porter) in 1998 but his line (pret-a-porter only) still exists with the Gucci group. He lives in Morocco and is super reclusive.
