YOUR 15 MINUTES: Twisted Teachers and Texas Torture

I never understood why teachers have illicit relationships with their students. Men in their 20’s are immature enough to make me want to run for the hills. Not that any sexual assault is right, but the prettier the teacher and the older the student, the quicker I am to forgive. If you’re a teenager who is going to be “emotionally scarred” by having sex with an older woman, wouldn’t you prefer the woman on the right as opposed to the thing on the left? The beast on the left isn’t a teacher, just a child molester who belongs in the cage behind her. I just added her for dramatic effect. Can you imagine losing your virginity to that? Vomit. The woman on the right is Debra Lafave, a reading teacher who had sex with a student. She can read to me anytime she wishes. The latest hot-for-teacher/student sex drama comes out of Texas: Amy McElhenney is a 25 year-old former Miss Texas, track coach and first year Spanish teacher who decided to strike up a relationship with an 18 year-old student. She admits to an improper relationship (text messaging) but denies sexual intercourse. The student admits sexual intercourse. Texas is now trying to put her behind bars for 20 years because of a state law that criminalizes a relationship between a school employee and a student--even though the student is legally an adult! State Rep. Helen Giddings, D-Dallas, wrote the Texas law in 2003 but she said she wanted the law to apply only to students 17 and younger -- uncomfortable with making sex between two legal, consenting adults a felony. Conundrum. Amy should consider herself lucky -- at least Texas isn't going to fry her! [source]

Texas has to be NUTS!!! The woman is 25, the guy is 18. They may have a right to strip her of her teaching credentials, since the State of Texas forbids teachers from having sexual relationships no matter what the age of the student, but to charge her with a criminal charge is nuts. God, I hope they don't get away with this one.
