Hijinx-d PSA

Here is a Public Service Announcement from Celebrity Hijinx.

Below are some tips offered by The Alzheimer's Association that could help keep your brain healthier as you age.

  • Keep your brain active every day (like read celebrity hijinx daily)
  • Stay curious and involved, commit to lifelong learning (check out what celebrities are doing)
  • Read, write, and do crossword puzzles (leave comments on our site)
  • Attend lectures and plays, or take courses at local colleges or community centers (stay tuned for more podcasts)

Be social:

  • Stay active in the workplace ( happy hour)
  • Join social groups like bridge clubs or square dancing (um. right. I'm going to go with something more along time lines of bellydancing...like me!)
  • Travel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Gossip. About celebrities only, of course.

Eat smart:

  • Certain foods like kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, corn and eggplant are high in antioxidants and can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
  • Cold water fish like halibut, mackerel, salmon, trout, and tuna are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. (did someone say tuna sashimi???)
  • Almonds, pecans and walnuts (oh my!) are a good source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant.

Stay in shape:

  • Physical exercise maintains good blood flow to the brain and reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes, which are risk factors for Alzheimer's. Seriously, we love you and all but TAKE A BREAK RIGHT NOW AND STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER! Britney and Kevin will still be getting divorced after your ass gets off the treadmill.
