Breaking News: Nicole Richie Picked Up on DUI

Nicole Richie was picked up on a DUI. Something about having vicodin and pot in the car. We'll follow with more news once we get it but for now I'm just going to draw wild conclusions:

I'm not sure what she was under the influence of and whether or not she had a prescription for the vicodin. It could be something as simple as she was driving under then influence of a prescribed narcotic -- which could be me almost everyday. Maybe aliens planted the drugs. It could be your typical two-martini DUI... or as serious as her driving around on heroin again...with the other drugs in the car this time. Or perhaps Lindsay Lohan was driving and then she and Nicole switched places after the police pulled them over. Chinese firedrill. If she'd eat something, she probably wouldn't be having this problem. It's just too easy to get fucked up on an empty stomach. I'm sure TMZ was chasing here and there will be a video out shortly.

UPDATE:

TMZ has learned that Nicole Richie was arrested for DUI early Monday morning. She was booked at 4:50 AM today and was released around 7:15 this morning. The booking sheet reveals Richie is 5'1" and 85 lbs (wow. she's 'gained weight' and still weighs 85 pounds). We're told two motorists spotted her SUV going the wrong way on the 134 Freeway in Burbank. The drivers called 911.When the CHP responded, Richie was stopped in the carpool lane and was alone in the vehicle. When cops approached the vehicle, Richie was on her cellphone. Law enforcement officers tell TMZ Nicole Richie admitted she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot. A preliminary alcohol screening device revealed that Nicole was not under the influence of alcohol. This is not the first brush Richie has had with substance abuse. In 2003, she pled guilty to heroin possession. The charges were dismissed after she completed the terms of her probation. A rep for Richie had no comment.

According to the LA County Sheriff's Department website (you can search for her under the inmates section), she was arrested at 1:45am and released at 7:17am on $15,000 bail. They list her race as black. I thought she was "other." Whatever the case, she's apparently still not black enough for some good, old-fashioned LAPD police brutality. CNN says she was drunk and that they're testing for drugs. She goes to court tomorrow at 9am. I'm not famous nor do I have an endless supply of money BUT I always always always have someone driving me when I'm intoxicated. It's just responsible and it avoids little problems like this. Call me crazy but I'd rather sober up in my clean, king-sized bed at home...
