Propaganda 101
Interestingly enough, I'm at the center of a HUGE undertaking... that's right, I'm reinventing myself as an environmentalist. If you're confused, I dunno... text me or email me. Maybe later, I'll blog about it later too.
The first step in my transformation was seeing Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." I mean, I liked it. I may have fallen asleep 7 times, but it was a decent Apple commercial film.
Well, a YouTube user by the name of "Toutsmith" posted a spoof of Al Gore's film. As it turns out, someone from the Wall Street Journal discovered that "Toutsmith" was using an email address that originated from a computer registered to Washington-based DCI group - which also happens to be a public relations and lobbying firm whose clients include oil company Exxon Mobil.
Dave Gardner, an Exxon spokesman, confirms that Exxon is a client of DCI. But he says Exxon had no role in creating the "Inconvenient Truth" spoof. "We, like everyone else on the planet, have seen it, but did not fund it, did not approve it, and did not know what its source was," Mr. Gardner says.
You know what? I believe Exxon. We have no reason to believe they're dishonest people.
What?
