YOUR 15 MINUTES: It Sucks To Be You

A baby-sitter bungled her first day on the job by picking up the wrong 5-year-old boy from his elementary school, police said. Angel Guerrero was taken by mistake Monday when the woman took him from the school without knowing what the child she was to care for looked like, said Long Beach Sgt. David Cannan. A relative went to get the boy about noon, but was told someone else had already picked up the child, police said. Long Beach police searched the campus of Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, 1175 E. 11th St., and canvassed the neighborhood in search of the child, said Sgt. David Cannan of the Long Beach Police Department. More than five hours later, the child was found.

It turned out that a babysitter, on her first day on the job, went to the school to get the child, called out his name, and Angel Guerrero, the boy who was later reported missing smiled and stepped forward, Cannan said. The babysitter took the child to her employers' home, where she and the child spent the afternoon. Meanwhile, the babysitter had no idea she picked up the wrong child until her employers returned home and did not recognize Angel. "The babysitter said 'This is your son,' and the parents said, 'No, this is not our son."' At the same time, the parents saw a TV report about the child who was reported missing and realized what had happened. The child who was supposed to be in the babysitter's care had waited at the school until school authorities called an uncle to pick him up. Angel's grandmother said the boy's quiet nature may have contributed to the problem. When NBC4's Angela Crouch asked Angel why he got in the car with the babysitter, he told her, "Because she pick me up."

So what did we learn from this article: Don't pick up the wrong kid from school or it'll make national news. The parents of the child who was supposed to be picked up are awful parents - who the hell doesn't introduce the babysitter to the kid before they put the babysitter in charge? Angel Guerrero speaks broken English. And last but not least: if you want to steal a kid, go to Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, 1175 E. 11th St. -- they have no idea what the hell is going on there. One last thing: do you think this is going to be the end of that lady's babysitting career? [source]
