YOUR 15 MINUTES: MySpace and Murder

Eeeeeeeveryone has a MySpace these days, darling, everyone. Last year, someone uncovered the creepy MySpace profile of Tom Stephens aka "The Bishop", a suspect in the murders of five women in England. Now someone has uncovered the possible MySpace of Edwin Hall, the 26 year-old man accused of kidnapping 18-year-old Kelsey Smith at a Target and killing her. Only the name "Jack," which Hall is known by to neighbors, is used on the MySpace page, and the picture posted strongly resembles the 26-year-old who is married with a 4 year-old son. The person on the MySpace page also uses the same age and location as Hall, and a person with the same name as his wife, Aletha, has a page linked to "Jack's." ...and apparently he likes to eat small children. Both profiles have been deleted. Alas, I have the text from his profile: Leave it to the good, old internet - someone has copies of his site here , his wife's site here and a blog here. “Sweet Troubled Soul”

Another interesting development with this case is that another young girl, 17 year old Kara Kopetsky, went missing in early May only about 6 miles from where Kelsey's body was found. Im not sure if we didn't hear about it because she's not All-American enough or something... At this time, some police are saying the events are unrelated and some police are saying they're investigating the possible connections. On May 4th, Kopetesky went missing. "There's been no contact she hasn't called there's been no bank activity," her mother, Rhonda Beckford said. The Beckford's are following Kelsey's case, hoping it will lead to answers in Kopetsky's investigation. "It's almost one month to the day that Kara came up missing that Kelsey came up missing," her stepfather James Beckford said. "They said it was abnormal for that to happen. They said she has no reason to leave or runaway. Kara had no reason to leave or runaway," Rhonda Beckford said. When her mother walked into Kara's bedroom, nothing was missing."Her dresser is full," Rhonda Beckford said Thursday as she opened one of her daughter's dresser drawers. None of her clothes are gone, and her iPod and phone charger are on a bedroom table, something the 17-year-old's mother said Kara would never leave behind. "If this was planned, she would have taken clothes and she didn't," Beckford said while holding a missing poster of her daughter. "If she had to buy clothes, she would have had to use her debit card, and she didn't." [source]

Again, this is a friendly PSA from CH to think about the potential ramifications of MySpace. Your MySpace could be used against/for you if you're a victim/suspect/criminal. It can be used to paint whatever kind of picture the press wants to paint. ...aaaaaaaaaaand your friends could be people you really don't want to be friends with...like accused killers and stuff. Really kids, pay attention..I say this because I love our readers, not because I'm turning into a paranoid old lady! I'm not. Really. I promise.

Celebrity Deathmatch 1291: Spelling vs. Francis

Since Joe Francis is in jail and Candy Spelling is old, they couldn't battle through their myspace accounts. Instead they chose a letter-writing campaign via TMZ.com.

Dear Joe, As the headlines about you changed -- to scream "imprisoned" and "U.S. marshals" instead of "filmmaker" and "entrepreneur," you respond by crying, wailing and seeing yourself as a victim. Bad move. Today's headlines call you a "crybaby." You blew it, Joe. Instead of jumping from party to party, you're being shuffled from one prison to another. And no one feels sorry for you. The flatterers and entourages have moved on. They have short attention spans. They're hanging on to someone else and will take advantage of the new "temp celebrity" as long as it lasts. The only redeeming factor is reading that you have been calling home every day from prison. When things are looking bleak, it sounds like you've found that you can get some perspective from the reliable people at home. Maybe you're realizing these are the only people who really care about you. Your world has changed, and you're the poster boy for what can happen when boys go wild. Your every move and every emotion are still being reported, but not the way you want. It's time for some dignity. At least it might prevent you from being forever defined as a crybaby.

Sincerely,
Candy Spelling

Dear Candy:
I don't know you, I have never met you and I don't know anything about you. After reading your letter posted on the internet, my mental picture of you is of a lonely old woman living in a mansion in Holmby Hills with let's say 300 cats jumping around, some in their own feces. I have tried to think to myself what would compel a woman such as yourself to write a letter to someone they have never met? Even worse, you are making up your mind based on headlines. I can understand you writing Paris Hilton a letter out of care because as you said in your letter, you have known her most of her life. Then again, it's sad and pathetic you had the audacity to post that letter on the internet instead of just sending it to Paris personally.

Candy, you don't know any of the facts concerning my situation. I am a hardworking, compassionate and honest person. I will prevail just as I have in the past because overcoming adversity is not only a part of the entrepreneurial experience but a part of life. You should appreciate this and know this more than anyone and I am ashamed of you for forgetting how hard it is to make it in this world and the people who would love to tear you down because you have. Sadly, it appears you have become one of those people.

Contrary to what you have said in your letter, my world has not changed. My business Girls Gone Wild is thriving and posted record sales last month. Most important, my friends and my family (I love you guys....) have stood by me. This whole situation will be over soon and I will be standing strong. I have never played a victim but I have always been a fighter. I will ultimately prevail in the matters at hand but I am concerned that you will die a lonely and unfulfilled person playing with those cats and posting open letters to people you have never met on the internet.

Sincerely,
Joe Francis

More Myspace Fights: The Wannabes

I honestly shaved 15 years off my life typing all of this - I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Yet another public MySpace fight by people who want to be famous. Kim Kardashiana v. Haylie Duff:

HAYLIE: Hey Kimberly, So, I’m really tired of all this bad blood between us. The only reason we even know each other is because of Paris, and of course she tries to stir things up because she doesn’t like me and wants you to be on her side. I’m not writing this message to slam her, though. Anyway, I just want to say sorry for whatever I’ve said about you, I know there’s been a lot of miscommunications and stuff, and I think you’re a really nice girl, and that we could end up being good friends. We should go out and cosmos together sometime! If you ever feel like it, cell me! You can get the number from Adam.
Peace and Love,
Haylie

KIM: um, thanks for the message i’m glad you want to be friends. i’m really tired of all this shit and drama, i’m a grown woman and i’ve been feeling like a little kid again. i know i should’ve have called you a stupid cunt, it was mean but i just did it because paris told me to. i was desperate for attention but i’ve finally ditched her and i’m becoming my own person. anyway, would you want to go see am spin at les deux next week? hope u write back soon. kim dont listen to paris shes a stupid lesbian

HAYLIE: i know, the drama has really gotten out of hand. I’m a grown woman and I can’t stand it, I just want it to be gone. This isn’t high school! And I forgive you for calling me that. :) Anyway, I’d LOVE to see AM spin! What time? Xoxo Haylie

KIM:yeah um. i forgot i don’t hang out with horses plus im busy. slut.

Snap. Horrific run-on sentence and comma usage aside, Haylie actually comes out of this looking like the better person. Still, something just doesn't seem right about the whole thing...

Holy Shit: See If You Can Wrap Your Brain Around This Mess

Paris Hilton's rep is hitting back at Shanna Moakler, calling her actions "childish" and "mean-spirited" after Shanna posted contact information for Paris online over the weekend.

"This woman is simply desperate for press and attention," said Elliot Mintz, he who orchestrates Paris' damage control. "Shanna deliberately posted Paris's phone number and e-mail address on her Web site. It was an unprovoked invasion upon Paris's privacy, which immediately caused her to change her contact information. It was a childish, mean-spirited thing to do. And we are not going to dignify such an action with any additional comment."

The drama started over the weekend, when Shanna wrote a blog (titled, "Put This In Your Pipe and Smoke It") on her MySpace page:

"I posted this blog back in January to let you all know that my accounts were hacked. ... and since there are 2 little girls with to much time on their hands and no one to love them....id like to share my 'hacked' info as well. ive tried to disassociate myself from both these parties for some time now and like a fungus they wont go away."

The posting then listed what she claimed were the e-mail address and phone number for Paris and e-mail addresses for Lindsay Lohan.

By Sunday, the post had been pulled from Shanna's page, however she put up another missive saying, "There are numerous reasons why i posted my last blog and I stand behind every single one of them."

Here's the part that confuses me... you'd think that Shanna Moakler would have her hands full with three children and a rocky relationship with Travis from Blink 182. Where does someone like that find time to sit around on Myspace? I mean, I have a day job which means I basically have 8 hours a day to paruse Myspace and start shit. Leave the Myspace drama to those with full time jobs, Shanna.

Jenna Jameson Needs Support With Her Cheeseburger

Jenna Jameson lost some weight, read about it in gossip and now she's sad. What's a grown girl to do? Why not start a myspace blog fight with your ex-husband? It did wonders for Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker – aside from the Herpes Hilton drama, they're now back to being the Barkers. Nicole Richie did it, Reichen Lehmkuhl did it...see, all the cool kids are freaking out on myspace blogs. Seriously, this is just one of the many reasons I think people over 30 should stay off the MySpace. It seems to turn grown people into insta-middleschoolers. Here’s the latest myspace installment of celebrity he said/she said:

She said:
My weight. I feel like I need to address the weight rumors that have been swirling for a few months now. This saddens me... only because, everyone that is judging me... has absolutely NO idea what is happening in my life. People are hateful and accuse me of being a drug addict, or an anorexic. Does anyone seem to remember the fact that I am going through a nasty divorce? It has been weighing heavily on me. I worked extremely hard for years to secure my success, and i have been forced to fight for everything I busted my ass for. This has definitely affected my weight. It really hurts that my fans and everyone else) have taken it upon themselves to be so horrible, screaming eat a burger! or we want the old jenna back! I'm sure everyone out there has gone through tough times, and this is when I need support. I wish I could enlighten everyone with what is exactly going on in my divorce and business, but I can't because of legal proceedings. I really hope everyone understands and remembers I am human, and I really need friends and the love and support right now. Soon the divorce will be settled and I am hoping to come out unscathed, but my x is doing his best to make it hard. Thanks for all of your support, and remember I love you!

PREACH ON BITCH. Blah Blah Blah … people in life are amazing! It's funny how individuals always believe their own bullshit.. or basically their side of the story… as flamboyantly as they might want to tell it. Peeps will convince themselves that the shit they spout out of their mouths is the truth and that it justifies everything in their lil realm of reality!! This is man's/woman's best justification of actions and feelings. I love to call it the "Denial Zone". There are always 3 sides to the story and only one side to the truth.. It's a funny theory, but it is a reality of life. People in general will always try to blame someone or some thing else for their own faults, inadequacies and/or weaknesses… this is a classic scenario and the best form of defiance! At some point in all of our lives we have to face… REALITY .. and the majority of the times its is not fun, exciting, or something anyone wants to deal with. This is when the real people .. the ones with integrity and honesty step out from the pack. I recently read a blog from someone blaming their physical appearance on circumstances and situations.. all of which are completely self perpetuated, on a victim or stress and circumstances. At some point you just have to be honest with yourself… as much as it might hurt and say.. I need help, my life and what I am doing is wrong! At which point you need to become proactive in the rectification of the situation. The saddest point about all of this is that most people have to hit rock bottom b4 they realize this simple truth….this is heart breaking to everyone that loves and supports that person. I always ask myself …why does it have to get this??? For the people that love and try to help.. well… we have an inherent flaw that is in most of us.. we want to help… we always want to come to the rescue; and the person in need has no control; abuses and consumes .. consumes like a psychic vampire! These are just truths in life i like to pass on.. if they fit in your scenario of life, then appreciate them. I will never use this forum as a personal place to verbally slaughter people and/or personas…. This is a place where I can rant and express….. My theory to life is something that I believe to be helpful… that's it! Take it for what it's worth. I will do a blog later about what is happing in life…the last 4 weeks have been SIIIIIIKKKKK!!!!! That I will save for the next blog.

Sniff sniff. Do you smell that? It smells a little bit like a rehab stint. Don’t worry Jenna, Celebrity Hijinx loves you no matter what your crazy skinny ass does or doesn't snort/eat. Topic suggest for her next blog: was the plastic surgery also a coping mechanism for the bad divorce... Personally, I like the new Posh Jenna providing no porn is involved. I'm on Jenna's side since her blog was rather well-written in the grammatical sense. I'll reevaluate my choice if Jay visits a tutor three times a week.
